Thank you and farewell to Kristina Brajović Car, our esteemed EATA Newsletter Editor

We extend our heartfelt thanks and bid farewell to our long-standing EATA Newsletter Editor, Kristina Brajović Car. Since 2015, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the EATA Newsletter into what it is today. We are deeply grateful for her commitment and dedication over the years.

The Communication Committee also thanks Kristina for her seamless collaboration and support. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors. More tributes to Kristina will be featured in the next issue of the EATA Newsletter, where she has already passed the torch to Eva van der Randen. We wish Eva the best of luck and look forward to introducing her to you soon!

What does Kristina have to share about her journey as EATA Newsletter Editor? Read on to find out…

“It all began nine years ago, after I completed my term as a delegate and wrapped up my engagement with the Theory Development and Research Committee (TDRC), where I served in various roles and responsibilities. My work primarily involved evaluating projects, setting strategies, initiating programs, and presenting the Committee’s results and contributions to the Council. Reflecting on the entire journey, I realize it began much earlier—back in 2012, when I entered the exciting universe of EATA as a delegate for Serbia, a CTA in psychotherapy, and a PhD student at the time.

At that time, the TDRC consisted of just three members, all from Western Balkan countries (former Yugoslavia). By the end of my mandate as a delegate, the TDRC had grown into a vital part of EATA’s mission, led by an expert EATA officer as Chair—a development I am incredibly proud of. It was enriching to witness and contribute to this organizational growth, knowing that my energy played a small but meaningful role in advancing research, theory development, and the presence of TA in academia across Europe.

My professional path at the Faculty for Media and Communication (FMK) in Belgrade, where I focused heavily on writing in both Serbian and English, aligned naturally with these responsibilities. Encouraged by Rosanna Giacometto, I accepted the role of Newsletter Editor, continuing my active involvement with EATA. I was deeply aware of the responsibility this role carries in the world of scientific research and publication. Working closely with past presidents Krispijn Plettenberg, Peter Rudolph, and current president Sylvia Schachner, as well as with Robin Hobbes and Marianne Rauter, we sought and managed to position the Newsletter as a publication aligned with EATA’s organizational goals, serving as a point of intersection for the four fields of TA.

It has been an immense privilege to have the trust of the Council and three different Executive Committees between 2015 and 2024. This trust allowed me to fulfill my responsibilities with a sense of autonomy, integrity, and belonging. I also had the pleasure of collaborating with designer Snezana, a colleague from the university, who brought her expertise in digital media design to refresh the Newsletter’s visual identity.

As I pass the torch to the new Editor, Eva van der Randen, I want to express my gratitude to the Communication Committee for facilitating this transition and for their active role in selecting the right person for this important position. I am confident that the Committee will continue to honor the Newsletter’s legacy and its critical role for EATA and its members.

Looking ahead, my focus will shift toward more writing and less editing, more psychotherapy and less administration, more teaching and less lecturing, and more supervision with less structuring. I am embracing my TSTA status and its responsibilities, exploring creative teaching and supervision methods that align with the needs of new generations of psychotherapists and their clients. These individuals navigate a world increasingly intertwined with technology while confronting crises as a chronic state of global society.

Thank you, EATA, for the countless opportunities, responsibilities, support, friendships, and professional development I have experienced in a truly humanistic environment.”
