International Trainers Meeting. Summary report

⭐On Friday, trainers from around the world came together for a vibrant and future-focused discussion on how to modernise the CTA exam. This highly participatory meeting was a first step in reimagining assessment within the TA community, to ensure it remains inclusive, equitable, rigorous, and aligned with contemporary learning and professional realities.

⭐Global Reach and Representation
The meeting brought together a rich mix of voices from across the globe. Participants joined from:
Europe: UK (England, Scotland), France, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine
Asia: India (Bangalore, Coimbatore), Crimea
Africa: South Africa
Oceania: New Zealand
North America: Mexico
This international mix reflected the global nature of TA training and the diversity of perspectives informing the conversation.

Meeting Structure
⭐The session included:
-Welcome and setting the tone for creativity and collaboration
-Three rounds of breakout room discussions
-Opportunities for reflection and identifying next steps
-A final invitation to imagine what a modern CTA exam might look and feel like

⭐Participants selected topics they were passionate about, joining themed breakout rooms to discuss and contribute their reflections via a shared Padlet.

⭐Next Steps
Participants were invited to share their names and areas of interest to contribute further to this evolving project.
Key next steps include:
Repeating this process with CTAs and trainees to ensure broader consultation.
Collating and reviewing ideas at the next TAWCS meeting.
Exploring how to involve other stakeholders in shaping the future exam system.

⭐Participants were also invited to visualise the modern CTA exam: What would it look and feel like? Contributions reflected hope for an assessment process that is inclusive, values-based, diverse in format, and deeply relational.
