Short News 2026

  • Dear members,
As EATA affiliated National Associations are very active and engaged in a wide range of activities 🌍✨, they often wish to share these on EATA’s channels, namely the website and social media 📲. To support this and ensure a fair and transparent approach for all, the Communications Committee and the Executive Committee have prepared clear guidelines for publication.

We would like to warmly thank Ira Tepalenko, Marjukka Rintamäki, and the Communications Committee for their thoughtful work on this 🙏.

The purpose of these guidelines is to outline the criteria and process for publishing information about National Associations' activities on EATA’s website and social media, ensuring that all content is consistent with and respectful of EATA’s mission, professional standards, and nonprofit status.

You can find the full document on the EATA website under About EATA → Mission / Statutes / Ethics → NA Publication Policy 🌐. It will also be shared with delegates by email.

Have a nice weekend 🌿

  • Dear members,

✨ We warmly invite you to join a joint EATA and ITAA webinar with Dr. Joel Vos and Dr. Biljana van Rijn, entitled:

“What Research Tells Us About Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy: What Works, Why It Works, and How to Use It.”

🧠 About the Webinar

What does the evidence actually tell us about Transactional Analysis psychotherapy?

In today’s evidence-based era, this question matters more than ever—not only for recognition and professional legitimacy, but also for understanding how TA helps people change and how we can continue to improve our practice.

📊 Join us for an interactive seminar where we will share findings from our systematic reviews of TA research, surveys, and clinical trials. We have examined what works in TA practice, identified the specific components that drive therapeutic change, and developed a conceptual model that synthesizes the evidence base.

🔎 During the webinar, we will present our key findings, including:

- the overall effectiveness of TA
- which specific components appear to be most impactful
- evidence-based competencies emerging from the research

But this isn’t just about numbers—it’s about what these findings mean for practice.

💡 You will discover practical applications such as:

- our 16-session TA treatment outline
- strategies for professional recognition and political advocacy
- ways of integrating research into training

Together, we will explore how you can use these insights in your own practice and how, as a professional community, we can harness this evidence to strengthen Transactional Analysis.

👥 Whether you are:

- a practitioner looking for evidence-based guidance

- a student training in TA
- a trainer developing curricula
- or an advocate working toward professional recognition
—you will leave with practical insights and tools.

📌 The research exists—the question is how we use it.

  • 📅 On Saturday, the traditional EATA March meeting took place online, as it has in recent years, helping us save resources while still bringing everyone together.

It was a truly pleasant, collaborative, and productive meeting of the EATA Executive Committee, Chairs of Committees, as well as the Ethics Advisor and the EATA Newsletter Editor. The whole meeting had a very positive atmosphere, and a great deal of work was accomplished. 🤝✨

In addition to the committee reports—clearly demonstrating that the committees are on fire with their work 🔥—the EATA Strategy Group, led by EATA’s Operations Officer, introduced a new way of working with projects and initiatives within committees and across the organisation.

The Executive Committee, together with some committees, continued their work today as well, further developing their respective projects. 💻📊

You can read much more about these new projects and the Strategy Group’s approach in the Anniversary Issue of the EATA Newsletter, which will be released tomorrow. 📬

Stay tuned! 👀

  • New Episode of TAP is Live!

On this month’s new episode of the Transactional Analysis Podcast, hosts James and Parul are joined by Lorena Adami, a Transactional Analyst and counsellor based in Italy to explore how she integrates cinema, storytelling, and TA in her work.

Lorena shares how her background in film and media led her to develop what she calls “CineCounselling”

Together, they explore how metaphor, scenes, characters, and shared cultural reference points can help clients (and groups) find words, create the right distance when needed, and expand perception in the counselling context.

In the episode, you’ll hear:

🔷 How Lorena connects movie script and life script
🔷 The concept of “CineCounselling”
🔷 Why cinema can offer symbolic language when a client can’t yet find words
🔷 Using film to create enough distance to speak about self through story
🔷 A group example using a movie to explore the Free Child, creativity, and expression
🔷 Lorena’s view of TA counselling as empowerment for the client
🔷 How scenes can make TA concepts more accessible

Available on all the major podcast streaming platforms.

With a huge thanks also to our patronage partner @ukatagram UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis), our supporting partner @eata_news EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis), and all our patreon supporters.

  • 🕯️ February 24 is a Day of Remembrance, Mourning, and Hope for a peaceful and safe life for Ukrainians. 💙💛

On this day each year, members of the Ukrainian Association for Transactional Analysis (UATA) come together to support one another, to honor those who were killed in Russia’s war against Ukraine, and to remember the most difficult moments in our history. The final days of February remain especially painful, marking a time of violence and terror of an unprecedented scale directed against the Ukrainian people.

Sadly, for the fifth consecutive year, we — members of UATA, as well as others, — continue to seek ways to live and work under the difficult conditions of war and constant threat to life. Yet, despite these circumstances, our community continues to grow: the number of UATA members has increased from 250 to more than 500 — a powerful testament to resilience, solidarity, and hope. 🌱

We are proud of our belonging to the European community and of upholding humanistic values. We continue to learn and develop in order to provide qualified professional support to those who need it most. At the same time, we share our experience of how vital it is to stay connected, united, and compassionate during these tragic times for Europe. 🤍

  • ITACA invites you to their
Lavarone Seminar 2026 – Geometries of Identity

Adolescence and young adulthood are suspended times—transitional spaces in which identity takes shape not as a fixed structure, but as a constantly evolving design.

Geometries of Identity is an invitation from ITACA to explore shifting territories, lines that break and reconnect, and forms that seek a possible balance.

It is a time of redecision, in which the life script is rewritten through the ongoing dialogue between the inner world and external reality—between what has been and what is not yet named.

Questions arise before answers, asking to be explored, revisited, and sometimes supported within an ever-renewed contract between the individual and their context.

The gaze turns inward, toward deep processes seeking coherence, continuity, and meaning. At the same time, it opens outward to a rapidly changing world shaped by digital technology, new relational configurations, and social, geopolitical, and environmental transformations that profoundly impact subjective experience and redefine its boundaries.

Within this space of complexity, ITACA offers a place for listening and reflection—a space to pause amid uncertainty, to recognize the new geometries of identity, and to consider the challenges they pose to each of us today.

Date and Time:
Friday, August 28th, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 29th, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Format:
The seminar will be held in person only.

It is open to colleagues working in the clinical, counseling, educational, and organizational fields. Speakers will present in plenary sessions, parallel sessions, and workshops.

ECM accreditation will be provided for psychologists and CNCP professionals.

Location:
Lavarone Conference Center
Gionghi District, 107
Lavarone (TN), Italy

On Wednesday evening, the first online meeting of the Communication Strategy Group took place 💻. The group emerged from the Strategy Group as one of its key initiatives.

As you can see, the entire Communication Committee was present, together with several other stakeholders involved in communication within EATA, such as Newsletter editor, General Secretary as well as a representative from the wider community of national associations who bring valuable experience in this area 🤝.

The core group will meet once a month, connecting ideas and building a coherent Communication Strategy aligned with EATA’s goals, values, and overall direction 🧩✨.

We wish them every success in their work 🍀. Our thanks to Tanja for facilitating the meeting.

Dear members,

📅 On Saturday, the traditional EATA March meeting took place online, as it has in recent years, helping us save resources while still bringing everyone together.

Stay tuned! 👀

New Episode of TAP is Live!

🕯️ February 24 is a Day of Remembrance, Mourning, and Hope for a peaceful and safe life for Ukrainians.

ITACA invites you to their
Lavarone Seminar 2026 – Geometries of Identity

Lavarone (TN), Italy

shortnews from social media

AI is a powerful tool that is becoming ever more integrated into our daily lives. Reflecting on professional and ethical ways to engage with AI is therefore increasingly important.

At PROFESSIO, Jutta and Andreas have been experimenting with different ways of using AI in coaching. They will present their approach and invite discussion, taking a balanced and differentiated look at how AI can support the coaching process — and where its limitations and potential risks lie.

Their perspective sees AI primarily as a support for coaches, as well as a learning aid in coaching training and supervision. This is very much work in progress, and they are looking forward to exploring new developments together with you!

Dear members,
