EATA is looking for a committed and experienced professional to take on the role of Newsletter Editor, a position deeply embedded in EATA’s overall communication strategy and a key pillar of the Association’s external visibility.

Role Overview

The Newsletter Editor works independently while cooperating closely with the Editorial Board, the Communication Committee (CC), the Executive Committee (EC), the Webmaster, and Council. The Editor reports to an EC Vice President, ensuring guidance, coordination, and escalation ability.

Terms

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Elect/Shadow period: Two editions of shadowing, if possible
  • Max. years of extension: Not defined — no special restrictions foreseen

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall quality and consistency of the Newsletter’s intellectual content
  • Upholds the mission of the Newsletter and selects articles accordingly
  • Serves as Chair of the Editorial Board and oversees its work
  • Solicits articles and ensures published content is consistent with EATA’s editorial mission
  • Collaborates with the Editorial Board, CC, EC, and Webmaster for appropriate publication
  • Verifies facts, determines readiness for publication, and approves final versions
  • Oversees the editorial review process and manages deadlines
  • Reports and escalates significant issues that may affect quality or timely release to the EC
  • Prepares an annual report for the EATA Council
  • Periodically reviews Editorial mission and policy, consulting the Editorial Board and making recommendations to Council
  • Works closely with the Editorial Board on article review, newsletter policy, ongoing development, topic identification, and proofreading (British English)

Competencies and Requirements

  • Advanced writing skills in English (C2 CEFR / C2 CPE)
  • Decision-making competence in story/article selection
  • Leadership competencies to motivate authors and guide the writing process
  • Experience in design and/or design programs; alternatively close collaboration with an art designer
  • Skilled in multimedia and photography
  • Flexible working style with the assertiveness to hold deadlines
  • Advanced TA knowledge
    Ability to work from the OK-OK perspective
